If George Orwell wasn’t a prophet, what would you call him?

Do any schools still require students to read 1984, or is that too dangerous to those who seek to gain power by dumbing us down?

Bloggers, never:

lower your standards and use the too-easy profanity,
forget how to use logic and thought,
use ad hominem and straw man attacks, or
cave into “political correctness,”

…lest you become a mindless slave of the system.

Keep learning, expand your vocabulary, and continue honing your literary skills, even when people don’t understand you and mock you for it.

MASSIVE, Intense Rant About Censorship!

Don’t like strong political posts? DON’T READ THIS!

I notice I’ve become more political in my posts recently, so I guess this is the (recent) culmination of it all, and once I get this off my chest I will probably go back to my usual general eclectic stuff.

OK, it’s not really completely my rant, but this video really got me going and I agree with it so much I am putting it here. Watch it or not, but it is part of an increasingly disturbing trend of censoring one particular side of public discourse which, by the way, is ACTUALLY unconstitutional (try read the Constitution sometime – it will enlighten you amazingly).

As Martin Niemöller, prominent German anti-Nazi theologian and Lutheran pastor said:

“In Germany they came first for the Communists, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a Jew. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I didn’t speak up because I wasn’t a trade unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, and I didn’t speak up because I was a Protestant. Then they came for me, and by that time no one was left to speak up.”

So, all you who would silence and/or change…

conservatives,
Christians,
those who believe that homosexuality is unbiblical/unnatural/bad for society/a failed evolutionary adaptation leading to the demise of the species, whatever,
those who believe in traditional morals and teaching them in schools,
those who want to be able to speak of God/Jesus in a public speech (and not as a swear word),
those who believe that people “are endowed by their Creator (NOT the government) with certain inalienable rights…”
those who want to keep alive babies in the womb because they are human (not bald eagles, sea turtles or pandas), genetically unique and distinct from the mother and therefore NOT part of her body or a “parasite” any more than are the young of any living creature,
those who value all humans, weak, sick, disabled or old,
those (in this very particular case) who support the 2nd amendment (of the CONSTITUTION OF THE United States),
their radio talk show hosts, scientists, writers, political leaders, and so on…

…do you think YOU will be spared and safe when the totalitarians are finally in complete control and all Constitutional rights are suspended (which is what is necessary to get rid of those aforementioned)? I don’t have to be a prophet to tell you that YOU WILL NOT.

But by then these people, these who even defend YOUR freedom of speech to

call them slanderous, libelous names,
propound baseless accusations against them,
shout them down and
(foolishly) allow you to censor them into silence because you are unable to refute their logic and go toe-to-toe with them in civil discourse,

will be finally silenced by one means or another (or gone), and there will be none left to defend YOU.

You will have dug your own grave.

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, and

“They told me so…”

will be your epitaph.
