Since we homeschool I learn all sorts of fascinating things, so I plan on using this new widget to share carefully selected interesting, informative, uplifting, humorous, and almost inevitably “educational” things I find.
- The first video betrays my new-found geekiness (“Strange Charm” – what a great name!), but it makes a potentially complicated subject easy to grasp and so much fun you want to learn the words.
- The second and third are entertaining explanations of how to avoid embarrassing yourself by saying things “wrong.”
- The fourth compares metric vs. imperial measure.
When I first taught my kids the metric system, it was so easy I didn’t teach them imperial measurement until (a few years later) it became obvious it was time to know it. BTW, NO student should EVER have to waste time doing silly conversions – use calculators or computers for such pointless busy work. Why? When you use system of measurement you USE it and don’t waste time converting back and forth – and if you must, certainly not on paper! Seriously, just know and use one or the other. Period.
