OK, the first big problem in genealogy is spelling it correctly. Yes, it is “eal” and not “eol,” no matter that it is pronounced as if spelled with an “o.”
But seriously, a big logistical problems in genealogy, beyond getting correct information, is how to number individuals and the associated family group records, because after you have printed out forms you need to organize them in a way that helps you see the relationships and find people. I, like many, have a system I cobbled together, but I didn’t think it through completely, and although I now know I was on the right track it needs modification.
Serendipitously, I just found an excellent article about numbering systems in genealogy. I believe it will greatly benefit not only me, but any budding genealogist – (http://www.saintclair.org/numbers/), so read the description of each method and decide what works best for you.
